On Tuesday morning, 25 July 2023, a settler and a soldier came to the community of Maghayir al-‘Abid in the South Hebron Hills. The settler went into a livestock enclosure and searched it, providing no explanations.
At the same time, three settlers, one of them armed with a rifle, arrived in the community of Khirbet a-Tuba, entered homes and conducted searches, claiming a drill had been stolen from them. The settlers ordered residents to open drawers and cupboards in their homes, vandalized a cupboard, scattered belongings, yelled at the residents, scared their children and threatened to call the military and then left.
About an hour later, four settlers arrived again, this time along with seven soldiers, and again went into homes and conducted searches. One of the settlers stole a drill from a house in front of the soldiers claiming it had been stolen from him. When the settlers got into a confrontation with the Palestinian residents and Israeli and international human rights activists, the soldiers detained one of the activists for about an hour. They then let him go and left with the settlers and the drill.
