In recent years — and especially since 7 October 2023 — there has been a sharp increase in both the number and severity of settler attacks against Palestinians. The incidents reported on this blog do not reflect all incidents of settler violence in the West Bank, but only those that B’Tselem was able to document and investigate.

At night, three masked settlers broke into the home of Nuzhah Makhamrah, 70, while she was asleep. They woke her up and demanded to know where her husband was. When she replied that he passed away several years ago, they started hitting her all over her body, leaving her bruised. They then stole three sheep from her pen and left.

In the morning, residents discovered settlers had cut pipes supplying water to the community, and to the communities of a-Safai a-Foqa and Khirbet Tuba.

In the evening, dozens of settlers started driving around the area of Masafer Yatta in the South Hebron Hills, shining flashlights into homes in the Palestinian communities of Khirbet a-Safai a-Tahta, Khirbet a-Tuba and Maghayir al-‘Abd.

Settlers returned once more and destroyed more pipes.

Settlers returned to the community and destroyed some of the piping that supplies water to the community and the communities of Safai al-Foqa, Kh. Tuba and Majaz.

Two settlers arrived in an ATV at the home of Shhadeh and Izdihar Makhamrah. They attacked Shhadeh with stones and beat him with sticks. They beat Izdihar on the chest with a weapon.
