In recent years — and especially since 7 October 2023 — there has been a sharp increase in both the number and severity of settler attacks against Palestinians. The incidents reported on this blog do not reflect all incidents of settler violence in the West Bank, but only those that B’Tselem was able to document and investigate.

About half an hour after farmers from the community arrived at their land, escorted by Israeli activists, a settler arrived on horseback. He shouted at the farmers and tried to hurt them with his horse. Two other settlers arrived, bearing firearms, and also shouted at the farmers and pushed them. They were then joined by four more settlers. The settlers assaulted some of the farmers and activists, hit them, kicked them, tried to snatch their cameras, and threatened to attack other farmers and vandalize homes. The farmers and activists called the police, but officers who arrived about 30 minutes later refused to speak with the Palestinians. The Israeli activists told the officers what happened and they detained the first settler, took him to a police station and suggested the activists file a complaint.
