The community of Bariyet Hizma was forced out by settler violence on 31 October 2023, but residents from the community and the village of Hizma continue to access the site for farm work. On Thursday, 25 July 2024, when Ahmad Khatib (23), a resident of the village of Hizma, was grazing his flock in nearby pasturelands, two settlers arrived and attacked him with stones. Khatib fled towards Hizma, leaving his sheep behind. When Kahtib returned several hours later, he discovered that the settlers had entered the community compound, spilled sacks of animal feed he was storing there and damaged a water tank and a fuse box lock.
