Ethnic cleansing of Palestinian communities and lone families in the West Bank (59 communities as of 16 Mar 2026)
On Tuesday, 23 July 2024, at around 9:30 A.M., Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military and Border Police escort and four excavators at the community of al-Jawaya in the South Hebron Hills and demolished a residential tent that belonged to a family of 10, including seven minors. The family had been forced to live in the tent since the Civil Administration demolished their home on 4 June 2024.

The family was left without shelter for a second time. The forces then continued south to the village of a-Tuwani, where they demolished the home of another family of 10–including five minors–leaving them homeless, too.
On Thursday, 18 July 2024, at around 8:00 A.M., Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military escort and four excavators to northern Jericho and demolished four vacation homes—two of which were under construction—four swimming pools, and approximately 10 water tanks.
On Thursday, 17 July 2024, Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military escort and Border Police officers at the community of Khirbet a-Taybah in Hebron District. The military declared the community a "firing zone" during the war and its residents were expelled, but they continue to go there to graze their sheep. The forces demolished an agricultural structure and damaged three water tanks, a gate, and a shade structure for the sheep.
On Sunday, 14 July 2024, Civil Administration officials arrived with a military escort and an excavator in the Satiah area of western Jericho and demolished a vacation home under construction, a pool, and two water tanks owned by the family building the house. This, in addition to the fence surrounding their plot of land, and a storage shed owned by a different family.
On Thursday, 11 July 2024, Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military Border Police escort and an excavator at Khirbet Qalqas in the South Hebron Hills. They demolished a three-story building that housed three families’ apartments, leaving 18 people, including 11 minors, homeless.
On Thursday, 11 July 2024, at around 9:00 A.M., Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military escort and an excavator in the area of al-Matar, east of Jericho, and demolished two vacation homes under construction owned by two families. Additionally, the forces demolished five horse stables that belonged to a different family–one of which was under construction–a fence surrounding the stables, a lounge made of stone, a metal storage shed, and two water containers.
On the morning of Monday, 8 July 2024, Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military and Border Police escort and two excavators to the community of Qawawis in the South Hebron Hills. They demolished a house and a sheep pen, leaving a family of two homeless.
The forces then moved north to the community of She'b al-Batem, where they demolished homes used seasonally by two families, totaling 17 people, including nine minors, and two agricultural structures belonging to a third family.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, 8 July 2024, Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military escort and an excavator in the village of Furush Beit Dajan in the Jordan Valley. They demolished a home used seasonally by a family of four, including two minors, as well as their water tank.
On Thursday, 4 July 2024, Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military and Border Police escort at the community of Birin, northeast of the town of Yatta. The forces demolished the homes of six families, numbering a total of 33 people, including 17 minors. Four of the families, numbering a total of 19 people, including 12 minors, were left homeless. The remaining two homes were seasonal. The forces demolished a livestock pen belonging to another family.
On Wednesday, 3 July 2024, at around 10:00 A.M., Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military and Border Police escort and a digger at Fasayil al-Wasta in the central Jordan Valley and demolished the foundations of a residential building under construction pursuant to Order No. 1797. From there, the forces moved on to Fasayil al-Foqa and demolished a finished but still vacant residential building.
On Tuesday, 2 July 2024, at around 10:00 A.M., Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military escort and two diggers at the village of al-Jiftlik in the central Jordan Valley. The forces demolished the home of one family, leaving 11 people, including eight minors, homeless.
On Monday, 1 July 2024, at around 10:00 P.M., Civil Administration personnel arrived with a military escort and three diggers at the town of al-‘Auja in Jericho District and demolished a four-unit residential building still under construction that also had seven storage spaces.

Israel’s regime of apartheid and occupation is inextricably bound up in human rights violations. B’Tselem strives to end this regime, as that is the only way forward to a future in which human rights, democracy, liberty and equality are ensured to all people, both Palestinian and Israeli, living between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.
Since the Hamas attack on 7 October 2023, Israel has acted in a coordinated and deliberate manner to destroy Palestinian society in the Gaza Strip, committing genocide against its residents. In light of Israel’s actions in Gaza, the public statements made by Israeli decision-makers, and the international community’s failure to take effective action, there is a serious risk that the Israeli regime will expand the genocide to other areas under its control—first and foremost, the West Bank.
B’Tselem calls on the Israeli public and the international community to use every tool available under international law to bring an immediate end to Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people.
