‘Ein Samia (east of Alon Route), Ramallah District: Israeli settlers graze flock in Palestinian vineyard and steal farming equipment. Israeli soldiers detain the farmer

On Sunday, 18 February 2024, at around 10:00 A.M., Iyad Sa’id (52), a resident of the village of Kafr Malik arrived at his plot of land with an Israeli activist. The plot is located near the community of ‘Ein Samia, about 100 meters east of Alon Route, and has a vineyard and seven greenhouses. Upon their arrival, the two saw a settler leading a flock into Sa’id’s land and discovered settlers had stolen a water pump he used to irrigate the vineyard. When the settler saw them, he covered his face, gathered the flock and left the plot.

Sa’id and the Israeli activist also left. On their way, Israeli soldiers detained them, checked their ID cards and then took Sa’id in a jeep to the Jab’it military base, where they locked him in a room without water or toilet access until 2:30 P.M., when he was released. A police officer told him not to return to his land, and that he was not permitted to cross the Alon Route. The officer threatened that if he returned, he would be detained for longer.

Sa’id was taken in a police car to the entrance to the village of al-Mughayir, and from there, local residents drove him to Kafr Malik.
