On Saturday, 20 January 2024, around 11:00 A.M., when Ashraf ‘Awawdeh (29) and Muhammad Farhan (20), from Deir Dobwan, were grazing their flocks, which, together, number about 800 animals, in pasturelands owned by village residents near the displaced community of Mleihat (Rammun), five settlers arrived in a car. One was masked and armed with a rifle, and the others were armed with clubs. The settler who had the rifle used its butt to hit Farhan in the abdomen, and then he and the other four attacked ‘Awawdeh and beat him too. The shepherds ran away and called for help, and in the meantime, the settlers began leading some of the goats away. About ten other residents of Deir Dobwan, some 15 soldiers and about 80 more settlers arrived at the scene. The soldiers fired live rounds in the air and, with the settlers, chased the Palestinians to their agricultural sheds, where clashes developed between the Palestinians and the settlers, including mutual stone-throwing. The settlers threw stones at the flock as well, killing four goats and a donkey, vandalized sheds, smashed the windows of four cars and punctured some of their tires. The Palestinians fled with the flock towards Deir Dobwan, where they discovered that 20 sheep and goats were missing. In addition, about 30 goats miscarried. ‘Awawdeh and Farhan, who were beaten by the settlers received treatment at the medical clinic in Deir Dobwan, along with Raji Jaber (31) who was beaten on the head with a club by the settlers after coming to ‘Awawdeh and Farhan’s aid.
