On Friday, 13 October 2023, at around 1:00 P.M., two settlers and a soldier entered the village of a-Tuwani in the South Hebron Hills and went to the family home of Mus’ab Rib’i (39). One of the settlers, who was armed with a rifle, burst into the house, hit Mus’ab and his brother in the head with his rifle and snatched Mus’ab’s phone, while the other settler and the soldier remained standing at the entrance.
Local residents who were in the nearby mosque heard the family’s screams and came to their aid. At that point, the settler left the house and advanced with the other settler and the soldier towards the worshipers coming out of the mosque. The settler beat Zakaria al-’Adrah (29) with his rifle, and then shot him in the abdomen, at point blank, in front of the soldier.
Villagers carried al-’Adrah away from the area. The settlers and the soldier left the village some time later. Al-’Adrah was taken in an ambulance to a hospital in Yatta, and from there to a hospital in Hebron When the ambulance arrived at Zif Junction, soldiers stationed there fired in the air, forcing the driver to turn around and return to the hospital in Yatta, where al-’Adrah was rushed into the operating room. He remained in hospital for 80 days and underwent two more surgeries before being discharged on 4 January 2024.
