Expulsion of the ‘Ein a-Rashash community
The community of ‘Ein a-Rashash lived by the West Bank central mountain ridge from the early 1990s to October 2023. It was home to 18 families, numbering 85 people in total, 25 of them minors. In recent years, settlers established several outposts in area. They frequently attacked the residents of ‘Ein a-Rashash and of nearby communities, incessantly harassed them and prevented their access to pastureland.
On 22 May 2023, the neighboring community of ‘Ein Samia was expelled. A month later, on 24 June, armed settlers entered ‘Ein a-Rashash, attacked residents with stones, injured an 86-year-old man in the head, and set fire to a house. Soldiers detained three residents who tried to defend the community and held them for a week.
On 9 October, settlers blocked the road leading to the community, which was blocked several times in the past by the army and reopened by residents every time. The settlers also prevented a water tanker from reaching the community.
This forced the residents to transfer 1,500 sheep to the village of Duma. On 13 October, the women and children moved to the village of Duma. On 16 October, the men of the community followed.
