A Weekend Visit Home
09 January 2017
A video diary by Nivin Bsharat, 19. A B’Tselem volunteer, she studies Special Ed. at al-Quds Open Univ. She tells what life is like for a young woman from Khallet Makhul, a small 6-family shepherding community in the Jordan Valley facing attempts by Israeli authorities to drive them out. Various hardships imposed by the authorities, including checkpoints and - as they do not recognize the community - refusal to allow a proper access road to be paved, mean that Khallet Makhul children are forced to live away from their parents, in another village, just to enable them to get to school regularly. Made as part of B’Tselem’s camera project, with the support of UN Women.
