In recent years — and especially since 7 October 2023 — there has been a sharp increase in both the number and severity of settler attacks against Palestinians. The incidents reported on this blog do not reflect all incidents of settler violence in the West Bank, but only those that B’Tselem was able to document and investigate.

On Monday, 1 April 2024, a settler grazed his flock, numbering about 100 animals, in a wheat field belonging to Suliman Zayed (49), which covers 15 dunams (1 dunam = 1,000 sq. meters) and is located about 100 meters from the homes of the community of Ras ‘Ein al-’Auja.  The flock damaged the crops, and residents of the community called the police. The officers, who arrived at the scene after the settler had already left with his flock, talked with the residents and then left.  On Saturday, 6 April 2024, at around 8:00 A.M., the same settler returned and grazed his flock in Zayed’s field for several hours, and this time too, the animals damaged the crops.  On Wednesday, 10 April 2024, the same settler returned once more with his flock and had it graze in the same field. The Palestinian residents stopped calling the police having deemed it pointless.
