5 May ’11: B’Tselem USA Announces the Formation of Advisory Board

Following the recent announcement of B’Tselem’s Public Council, including prominent figures from Israeli public, intellectual, and cultural life like David Grossman and Mordechai Kremnitzer, B’Tselem USA announces the formation of its influential Advisory Board. The board consists of leaders of the American Jewish community, policy think tanks, academia and foundations.

Peter Beinart, Advisory Board Member: “B’Tselem plays a crucial role, a brave and honorable role of calling Israel to live up to the words in its own Declaration of Independence, to be a state that will pursue freedom and justice.”

B’Tselem USA Advisory Board members:

  • Aaron Back, Director of Ford Israel Fund;

  • Michael Bergman, US-Palestinian Partnership Program Director at the Aspen Institute;

  • Peter Beinart, former Editor of The New Republic and Schwartz Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation;

  • Rabbi Sharon Brous, Congregation IKAR, Los Angeles;

  • Hadar Harris, Executive Director of the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at American University Washington College of Law;

  • Daniel Levy, Senior Research Fellow and Co-Director of the Middle East Task Force at the New America Foundation;

  • Rabbi Rolando (Roly) Matalon, Senior Rabbi of B’nai Jeshurun Congregation, New York City;

  • Dr. Edward (Edy) Kaufman, Former Chair of the Board of B’Tselem, Director of the Center for International Development and Conflict Management at the University of Maryland;

  • Mary Ann Stein, Founder and President of the Moriah Foundation.
