No to firing at civilians in Israel or Gaza; blockade must be lifted

Waging another war in the Gaza Strip is a folly that will enhance no-one’s safety or wellbeing. It will merely exacerbate the suffering of civilians on both sides. The Israeli government must lift the stifling blockade it has imposed on the residents of the Gaza Strip; Hamas must cease firing at civilians.

B’Tselem saddened and shocked by the death and circumstances of the killing of Ori Ansbacher in Jerusalem

B’Tselem expresses its deep sorrow over the killing of Ori Ansbacher, 19, from the settlement of Tekoa, by a Palestinian resident of Hebron. She was killed on 7 February near Ein Yael in Jerusalem. B’Tselem conveys its deep condolences to the Ansbacher family. One cannot but be shocked by the horrific circumstances of the incident. Assaults on civilians undermine all moral, legal and human principles. B’Tselem strongly condemns any and all such assaults.

B'Tselem mourns death of newborn baby delivered after mother seriously injured in shooting attack near Ofra

B'Tselem expresses its deepest sorrow over the death of the newborn son of Shira and Amichai Ish-Ran, who was delivered in his mother's seventh month of pregnancy after she was gravely injured in a shooting attack carried out by a Palestinian near the settlement of Ofra. The father and five other people were also injured. B'Tselem sends its deepest condolences to the family and wishes the injured a full and speedy recovery. Deliberate attacks against civilians undermine basic human, moral and legal rules and are acts of abominable, deplorable and despicable nature.

Palestinian shoots and kills two Israeli civilians, Barkan Industrial Zone, the West Bank

B’Tselem expresses its deep sorrow at the deaths of Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel – a 28-year-old married mother of a toddler, from Rosh Ha’ayin, Israel – and of Ziv Hajbi - a 35-year-old married father of three, from Rishon Letzion, Israel. They were shot and killed yesterday morning (October 7) by a Palestinian from the village of Sheweikah, Tulkarm District. B’Tselem conveys its sincerest condolences to the Levengrond-Yehezkel and Hajbi families, and send its best wishes for a speedy recovery to the woman injured in the incident.
