Border Police officer injures ‘Abdallah Abu Rahma during protest in ‘Ein Samia, 20 Nov. 2020
03 February 2021
On Friday, 20 November 2020, during a demonstration in ‘Ein Samia, Ramallah District, against the establishment of a new outpost near the Bedouin community of Ras a-Tin, a Border Police officer fired a sponge round at Bil’in resident ‘Abdallah Abu Rahma (55) from several meters away, as he was trying to flee. Abu Rahma was hit in the shoulder just as he turned around and began backing away from the officers. This is yet another outcome of the military's open-fire policy, which permits dangerous and even lethal use of measures it defines as “crowd control weapons”.
