International Relations Associate

B’Tselem seeks an organized, idealistic professional for an exciting opportunity within a challenging, fast-paced and rewarding environment.

Job Description

  • Building and maintaining relationships with foundations and other donors through proposal-writing, reporting and meeting with donors

  • Writing fundraising materials (proposals, reports, brochures, web-pages linked to fundraising, etc.)

  • Proof-reading and editing English-language materials

  • Coordinating work processes across B'Tselem that support fundraising

  • Assisting in B'Tselem's international advocacy efforts, especially with diplomats stationed in Israel, by organizing briefings, tours and preparing targeted materials.

  • Overseeing and enhancing the donor-related elements of B'Tselem's Salesforce-based CRM

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years proven fundraising or similar experience (preference for more)

  • Commitment to human rights

  • Capacity to present B'Tselem's positions and human rights issues to a range of English-speaking audiences

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills in English, strong Hebrew comprehension

  • Ability to write proposals and to prepare narrative and financial reports

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under tight deadlines

  • Computer proficiency, including Excel

Associate Director, B'Tselem USA, Washington, DC 20005, USA

B’Tselem USA enriches American political and public discourse regarding human rights in the Occupied Territories, amplifying the research of B’Tselem, the leading Israeli organization addressing human rights in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. B'Tselem USA provides accurate, reliable information to policy makers, key stakeholders, and the public at large about the reality on the ground, encouraging these audiences to speak out on behalf of human rights. Required qualifications and skills:

  1. Bachelor degree required , graduate degree – preferred (relevant fields: Public Policy, Political Science, Middle East Studies, Law, International Relations and Diplomacy, Communications)

  2. 3 years of relevant work experience in one or more of the following fields: Human Rights; Middle East; Jewish organizations; Government/congressional staff; Fundraising

  3. Excellent written and verbal communications skills; Strong presentation skills.

  4. Innovative, creative and flexible

  5. Outstanding interpersonal and social skills

  6. Team Player – ability to work in a small team

  7. Strong research, planning, organizational, and analytical skills.

  8. Familiarity with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, human rights, American government and the American Jewish community

  9. Ability and willingness to travel

Hebrew comprehension – an advantage

This position works closely with B'Tselem's USA Director in a two-person office in Washington DC and will play an active role in all aspects of the work plan, including:

  • Develop and execute the organization’s strategy of advocating human rights in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict vis a' vis the various branches of the US government, establish and maintain relations with relevant officials (White House, State Department, Congress)

  • Develop and execute outreach strategy to the American Jewish community

  • Develop and execute communications strategy

In addition, this position has the following responsibilities:

  • Produce and distribute a regular newsletter;

  • Produce content for other organizational publications, including new media and social networks

  • Resource development: map resource development opportunities and write grant applications and donor reports; Build and maintain relationships with foundations' representatives and individual donors.

  • Administrative management

  • Develop and supervise educational projects

  • Initiate and organize events and delegations

  • Keep up to date with B'Tselem's work and publications as well as other Israeli, Palestinian and international human rights organizations' work

  • Keep up to date with latest developments in the Israeli-Palestinian arena, in human rights issues as well as political issues, and American policies regarding them

  • Recruit and supervise interns
